Bio

As a writer, editor, elementary school teacher, and animation producer, I have worked to distill facts
into fun. In my current role as senior editor at Houghton Mifflin, I  plan and produce classroom materials in social studies and science.

I live on Peaks Island, a perfect spot for observing stars and starfish, civics and civility. Last year, I self-published a small-run poetry book,   Ferry Ride, with co-author, Carol Cartier, and graphic designer, Tim Nihoff (my life lab partner).  At  the 2007 Stonecoast Writers Conference, I received the conference's inaugral Stonecoast Poetry Prize, and in 2008, received honorable mention from the Maine Literary Awards. I’m always brewing new articles, poems, and children’s stories. If you’d like to read some, please see my  samples, or send word.
